Vertical construction underway at the Methodist McKinney Hospital

Even though overall construction has slowed in areas throughout the country due to the national economic downturn construction is continuing on the Methodist McKinney Hospital located at the northwest corner of Stonebridge Ranch and Eldorado Parkway in McKinney.

Methodist McKinney Hosptial received its building permit from the city of McKinney on March 11 and steel beams are now reaching skyward, said hospital officials. Nueterra Real Estate, the real estate developer, has been preparing the site for construction since October 2008, following approval of the planning and zoning permit.

The hospital’s steel infrastructure was delivered the week of March 16 and with the help of fair weather, steel beam placement began the week of March 23. Construction is currently scheduled to be completed in December.

Methodist McKinney Hospital will be more than 65,000 square feet and will allow area physicians to expand medical services available to residents of Collin County and surrounding areas, providing high-quality, patient-focused medical care. The hospital will open with six fully-equipped operating rooms, comprehensive diagnostic imaging including CT and MRI services, and 15 private patient rooms.

Methodist McKinney Hospital is the first structure in this medical campus planned for the northwestern corner of Stonebridge Drive and Eldorado Parkway. Future construction updates will be available on the hospital’s Web site at www.methodistmckinneyhospital.com.

Methodist McKinney Hospital is a joint venture partnership between area physicians, the Methodist Health System, and Nueterra Healthcare. The facility will offer a wide array of physician specialties including: primary care, orthopedics, general surgery, otolaryngology, neurosurgery, gynecology, and pain management. The hospital will focus on treating all patients appropriate for its array of medical specialties and services.

The Methodist McKinney Hospital is not the only large construction project currently underway in McKinney. Collin College is currently constructing its Higher Education Campus at the northeast corner of Spur 399 and US 75 and is also almost finished constructing the library at the Central Campus in McKinney at US 380, just west of US 75. Construction is also underway on the Dr Pepper StarCenter McKinney in Craig Ranch and construction should be complete in October.
